About
Rob Roy Campground is comprised of a cascading, tight loop configuration along a hillside among mixed pines at 9,500 feet elevation in Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. The 65-site campground features a mix of sites, with some overlooking the 500-acre Rob Roy Reservoir and others tucked into the forested hillside for more privacy. The adjacent Rob Roy Reservoir is a popular destination for boating, water skiing, and fishing, accessible through the nearby Rob Roy Day Use Area which provides a boat ramp. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the Snowy Range, with numerous Forest Service roads accessible for dirt bikes, UTVs, and ATVs. The location offers moderate usage levels and facilities in nearby Albany. The campground operates with a mix of reservable sites and first-come, first-served sites. All sites include picnic tables, fire rings with pedestal grills, and access to vault toilets and trash collection. Potable water is available at sites 14 and 54, typically from July through September depending on weather and maintenance. The maximum trailer length is 35 feet, and the campground can accommodate RVs but has no hookups.
