About
Twin Lakes Campground sits in the Albion Mountains of southern Idaho within the Sawtooth National Forest's Albion Division, approximately 20 miles southeast of Burley. This fee-based, first-come, first-served campground is suitable for tent camping and can accommodate up to 100 visitors. Amenities include vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site, plus three horse corrals for equestrians. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground enforces a 14-day camping limit per 28-day period within the Minidoka Ranger District, with a maximum of 2 vehicles per site that must park on gravel spurs only. The primary draw is access to the Skyline Trail (#513), a 26.2-mile route beginning at the back of the campground and ending at City of Rocks National Reserve. The trail is open to hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and dirt bikes, offering outstanding views across southern Idaho.
Directions
From Burley, Idaho, take I-84 east to exit 216. Head south on ID-77 for approximately 27 miles to the town of Almo. From Almo, continue south on Elba-Almo Road for about 5 miles, then turn right onto Forest Road 549. Follow this road for approximately 7 miles to reach Twin Lakes Campground.
