* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Western Lyon County in east central Kansas... Southeastern Morris County in east central Kansas... South Central Wabaunsee County in east central Kansas... * WHEN...Until 245 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1144 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Emporia, Eskridge, Americus, Allen, Admire, Bushong and Dunlap.
About
North Richey Cove Campground sits on the 3,310-acre Council Grove Lake in the rolling Flint Hills of eastern Kansas. This small campground offers 8 reservable campsites with electric service, combining shaded spots under mature trees with open grassy areas suitable for games and recreation. Two camping units are permitted per site, allowing combinations like one RV and one tent or two tents. A boat ramp within the campground provides direct lake access for fishing and boating. Council Grove Lake is known for excellent crappie and catfish fishing, and was the first lake in Kansas to be stocked with Saugeye. Nearby hiking trails follow the lakeshore, with Pioneer Nature Trail offering scenic views of wildlife and wildflowers. The area also provides access to the Flint Hills National Scenic Byway and nearly 2,700 acres of public hunting lands. The campground operates seasonally from approximately mid-April through late October. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and park gates close at 10 p.m. The historic town of Council Grove, a National Historic District with seven Santa Fe National Historic Trail sites, is located about 2 miles southeast of the lake.
Directions
From I-70, take Highway 177 south for 30 miles. The Richey Cove entrance is located on the west side of the highway at the dam road.
