About
Las Vegas Bay Campground sits on the western edge of Lake Mead National Recreation Area, roughly 20 minutes from Henderson and Las Vegas. The 85 paved sites occupy a surprisingly lush setting for the Mojave Desert, shaded by a mix of palm trees, oleanders, and mature cottonwoods that provide privacy between sites. Wildlife includes numerous bird species, lizards, antelope squirrels, and occasional coyotes. The campground operates year-round with reservations required through Recreation.gov. Facilities include flush restrooms with sinks, potable water spigots throughout, a dump station and water refill station near the entrance, and trash/recycling receptacles. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit or grill. No hookups are available. A campground host is on-site seasonally, and an amphitheater hosts ranger programs. There is no direct lake access from the campground. Trails, launch ramps, fishing piers, marinas, and restaurants are about 20 minutes away by car. The Bluffs Trail begins at site 72 and follows the ridgeline with views over Las Vegas Wash, making it excellent for birding and photography. Be aware that air tour noise is common during the day, and summer temperatures regularly exceed 100°F.
Directions
From Las Vegas, take Lake Mead Parkway (NV-564) east to the park entrance. Continue about 2.5 miles, then turn left onto Lakeshore Drive. Take your first left onto Las Vegas Bay Campground Road. The campground is approximately one mile ahead.
