About
The Yunshookuh Loop Campsite is a fully accessible campground situated on Wrangell Island in the Tongass National Forest, approximately 14 miles south of Wrangell. Accessible via Zimovia Highway and Forest Road 6267 (Nemo-Skip Loop Road), the site is located at milepost 0.7 along the Nemo-Skip Loop. This campground accommodates both RV and tent camping across three group sites, though no hookups are available. A shared outhouse facility serves all sites, and a 12' x 16' covered picnic shelter is centrally located at the middle site. The campground offers scenic views of Zimovia Strait and experiences light usage throughout the year. The site is particularly popular during winter months for sledding on the access roadway when snow conditions limit vehicle access to ATVs, snowmachines, or skis and snowshoes. The fully accessible design ensures that visitors of varying abilities can enjoy this remote camping experience in Southeast Alaska's rainforest environment.
