About
Three Sisters Overlook Campsite is a primitive, single-occupancy site managed by the U.S. Forest Service in the Tongass National Forest on Wrangell Island. The campsite takes its name from the spectacular views it offers of three prominent peaks on nearby Etolin Island, locally known as the three sisters: Virginia, Bessie, and Helen. The overlook sits above Zimovia Strait, providing sweeping vistas of the surrounding waters and mountains. The site is designated as fully accessible and features a vault toilet. Potable water is not available, so campers must bring their own supply. There is no fee to camp here, and the site operates on a first-come, first-served basis with light usage. Access is via a short path from roadside parking. Recreational activities in the area include wildlife and scenery viewing, as well as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter months. The site provides a quiet, remote camping experience in Southeast Alaska's temperate rainforest environment.
Directions
From Wrangell, drive 14 miles south on Zimovia Highway. Turn right on Forest Road 6267 (Nemo-Skip Loop Road). The site is at milepost 1.5. Access to the campsite is via a short path from roadside parking.
