About

Anita Bay Overlook Campsite is a small, primitive camping area located on Wrangell Island within the Tongass National Forest. The campground features two sites, each providing excellent views of Zimovia Strait and the Three Sisters range on Etolin Island. Both sites are fully accessible, making this a rare accessible option for remote camping in Southeast Alaska. The campground is located approximately 14 miles south of the town of Wrangell off Zimovia Highway, accessed via Forest Road 6267. Visitors should plan to travel about 2.2 miles down this forest road to reach the sites. The area receives light use and offers a peaceful camping experience with opportunities for picnicking, scenic viewing, and cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in winter months. This is a primitive campsite with basic amenities. Restroom facilities consist of outhouses, and there is no potable water available, so visitors must bring their own. The campground is free to use and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations.
