About

The Nemo Campsites Entry & Info Site is a unique facility in the Tongass National Forest that serves dual purposes. Located at the beginning of the Nemo-Skip Loop Road on Wrangell Island, this site functions as the primary information station for the broader Nemo Campsites recreation area. Information boards provide posted updates and guidance for visitors exploring the area. During summer months, the site is typically occupied by Wrangell Island Host Volunteers who lead evening campground programs for visitors. When not in use by hosts, the site becomes available for overnight camping on a first-come, first-served basis. Usage is light, making this a quiet option for those seeking solitude in Southeast Alaska's temperate rainforest. Facilities are minimal: an outhouse is available but there is no potable water on site. Campers should come fully prepared with their own water supply. The site provides easy access to the Nemo-Skip Loop Road and surrounding recreational opportunities on Wrangell Island.

Directions

From Wrangell, drive 14 miles south on Zimovia Highway. Turn right onto Forest Road 6267 (Nemo-Skip Loop Road). The site is located at mile marker 0.5.
