About

Turn Island Beach Campsite offers a secluded overnight experience on the saltwater shores of western Wrangell Island. Set within a grove of very large red cedars, the site provides two tent platforms and a shared outhouse facility. The old-growth forest setting and waterfront location make it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding Tongass National Forest. The campsite serves as a convenient stopover for sea kayaking and canoeing trips originating from the boat ramp at Pat's Creek on Wrangell Island, or as a destination for longer paddle trips through the area. Hikers can reach the site via the 0.5-mile Nemo Saltwater Access Trail from the trailhead at mile 5.2 on Forest Road 6267. This is a primitive, no-fee campsite with no potable water. Campers must bring all drinking water and pack out trash. The remote setting offers solitude in one of Southeast Alaska's iconic temperate rainforest environments.

Directions

From Wrangell, drive 14 miles south on Zimovia Highway. Turn right on Forest Road 6267 (Nemo-Skip Loop Road). Park at the Nemo Saltwater Access Trailhead at mile 5.2. Access the campsite via the 0.5-mile trail. Alternatively, access by boat from Pat's Creek boat ramp.
