About
Yellow Pine Campground offers 14 primitive campsites in a scenic mountain meadow setting near Johnson Creek, a tributary of the South Fork Salmon River. Located in a remote section of Boise National Forest, the campground provides access to the Frank Church - River of No Return Wilderness via several nearby trailheads. The campground is well-suited for tent camping and smaller RVs willing to navigate the access road. Each site features a fire ring, grill, and picnic table, with vault toilets available. This is a primitive facility with no potable water and no cell service, so campers should come prepared. The surrounding area is popular for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and fishing on the South Fork Salmon River and Johnson Creek. The tiny community of Yellow Pine, established in 1902, lies just north and offers limited services. The town hosts the popular Yellow Pine Music & Harmonica Festival each August.
