About
Woods Cabin offers a unique opportunity to stay in a historic 1928 structure perched on the north shore of 913-acre Lake Como in the Bitterroot Mountains. The cabin provides rustic accommodations for up to 15 guests, with three bedrooms, a spacious living room ideal for group meetings or retreats, plus a full kitchen and dining room. Large windows and an expansive deck offer spectacular views of the lake and nearby Como Peaks. The cabin features two wood stoves with firewood provided, though it may need splitting. Without electricity, propane lamps provide lighting for an authentic backcountry experience. A vault toilet is located nearby, and potable water is generally available during peak season (May 1 - September 30). The location provides direct access to Lake Como's north shore beach area and sits near the trailhead for the 7-mile Lake Como National Recreation Loop Trail, suitable for hiking and mountain biking. Winter rentals offer access to cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing, though the access road is not plowed. Winter visitors can park at the boat launch on the south side of the lake and walk, ski, or snowshoe approximately three-quarters of a mile across the dam to reach the cabin. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with osprey, bald eagles, deer, moose, elk, and bears inhabiting the area.
