About
Blodgett Campground sits at the gateway to Blodgett Canyon in the Bitterroot National Forest, 6 miles west of Hamilton, Montana. The campground consists of 5 standard sites, 1 walk-in site, and a host site, positioned beneath the towering cliff faces that make Blodgett Canyon a renowned destination for rock climbers. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets serving the campground. Two sites are designated as ADA accessible. The campground serves as the trailhead for Blodgett Canyon Trail, which follows Blodgett Creek into a spectacular canyon featuring dramatic cliffs and spires. The creek offers secluded fishing for rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout. Blodgett Canyon Picnic Area is located across the creek from the campground. The area sees heavy use due to its proximity to Hamilton and popularity with climbers and hikers. This is a primitive, first-come, first-served campground with no fees and no drinking water. Pack-in, pack-out waste management is required. A Food Storage Order is in effect from March 1 to December 1 due to bear activity. The campground operates from May 1 through October 31, with winter access limited by snow.
