About
Blodgett Campground sits beneath the towering cliff faces of Blodgett Canyon in the Bitterroot National Forest, about 6 miles west of Hamilton, Montana. The canyon's dramatic granite walls draw rock climbers from around the region, making this campground a popular basecamp for climbing adventures. Blodgett Creek flows nearby, offering fishing opportunities for rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout. The adjacent Blodgett Canyon Trail provides access into the canyon with spectacular views of cliffs and spires. The campground offers 5 standard campsites plus 1 walk-in site, all equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. A vault toilet serves the campground, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Trash service is not provided; all garbage must be packed out. Two campsites are designated as ADA-accessible, and the campground can accommodate RVs or trailers up to 45 feet in length. A food storage order is in effect from March 1 through December 1 due to bear activity in the area. Camping is limited to 16 consecutive days, and quiet hours are observed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Dogs must be kept on leash within the campground.
Directions
From Hamilton, MT go west on Main Street for 1 mile, turn north (right) onto Ricketts Road and travel 0.5 miles. Turn west (left) onto Blodgett Camp Rd/FS 736, and follow approximately 4 miles to the campground.
