About
Three Sisters Group Site is located within the Lake Como Recreation Area on the Darby Ranger District of the Bitterroot National Forest. The group site, situated across the road from the Rock Creek Horse Camp, sits among pine trees adjacent to the outlet of 913-acre Lake Como at an elevation of 4,245 feet. Primarily used for meetings, reunions, weddings, and family gatherings, the site can accommodate groups of up to 75 people with parking for 25 vehicles. The site features a 20x30-foot pavilion equipped with 6 picnic tables, 1 BBQ grill, and 2 serving tables. Additional amenities include benches around a group fire ring and two vault toilets. Potable water is not available, so visitors must bring their own. The site is accessible and equipped for large group gatherings. Lake Como offers excellent opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, and water sports. Anglers can target rainbow and cutthroat trout, as well as kokanee salmon. A boat ramp and parking area are available at the south side of the lake, while a large sandy beach is located on the north side. The 7-mile Lake Como National Recreation Loop Trail begins nearby and is suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and accessing the lake. The first quarter-mile is wheelchair accessible. About 3.5 miles west is a magnificent waterfall that cascades over fern-covered rock cliffs, with trails continuing into the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness area. Wildlife including osprey, bald eagles, deer, moose, elk, and bears inhabit the area.
Directions
From Darby, Montana, continue north on Highway 93 for 4 miles. Turn west onto County Road 82/Lake Como Road. Follow signs to the Lake Como Recreation Area and continue west past Forest Road 1111 towards the boat launch. The site is on the north side of the road.
