About

Rock Creek Horse Camp is situated within the Lake Como Recreation Area on the Bitterroot National Forest, providing specialized facilities for equestrian campers. The campground features 11 tent and small trailer sites, with four pull-through sites available. Sites 1A, 1B, 9A, and 9B are reserved exclusively for stock use, while remaining sites are available to all campers. The facility includes accessible vault toilets, gravel surfaced roads, and stock amenities such as hitch rails, a loading ramp, and feed bunks. The campground can accommodate RVs or trailers up to 40 feet and provides convenient access to multiple trail systems. The adjacent Rock Creek Trailhead connects to the Lake Como Recreation Trail, which circles the lake, and continues west into the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. Stock are not permitted on the northern side of the lake. The broader Lake Como Recreation Area offers additional amenities including day use areas, a swimming beach, hiking trails, and a motorized boat launch. No potable water is available at the campground, so visitors must bring their own. A food storage order is in effect due to bear activity, and all food must be properly stored from March 1 through December 1 annually.
