About

Wolverine Cabin is a historic log bunkhouse situated at Wolverine Lakes within the Ten Lakes Scenic Area of Kootenai National Forest, near the Canadian border in northwest Montana. The cabin was originally constructed for border patrolmen and is now maintained by volunteers for public use. It provides four bunks, a table, a wood fireplace, and contains an old log book with a hand-carved wooden cover. The cabin is accessible only via backcountry hiking, typically a 2.3-mile trek on Wolverine Lakes Trail #84 from the Little Therriault Lake area. The surrounding alpine scenery at approximately 6,400 feet elevation offers excellent fishing and dispersed camping opportunities. As part of the Ten Lakes Scenic Area, motorized vehicles are prohibited. This is a pack-in/pack-out primitive facility. Visitors must bring their own water, suspend food out of bear reach (at least 10 feet high and 4 feet from tree trunks), and use only designated fire rings or backpack stoves. An outhouse is located near the cabin.

Directions

From Eureka, Montana, take US-93 north, then turn west on Grave Creek Road (FR 114). Continue to Little Therriault Lake Campground. From there, hike Wolverine Lakes Trail #84 approximately 2.3 miles to reach the cabin at Wolverine Lakes.
