Isabella & Lost Girl Fires- Road and Trail Closure

Due to the Isabella and Lost Girl Fires on the Cabinet Ranger District, a closure order is now in effect for a portion National Forest System Road 407, National Forest System Trail #407A, and Trail #646 (St. Paul Lake Trail).

Spruce Fire Road Closure-Updated

Due to the Spruce and Spruce Ridge Fires on the Three Rivers Ranger District, a closure order is still in effect. However, the original order has been terminated and replaced with an updated closure.

South Meadow Creek Fire Closure

Due to the South Meadow Creek Fire, a closure order is now in effect for National Forest System Roads #524 and #5961, starting at the junction of the two roads to their respective ending points.

Kootenai Rails Trail Closure

A portion of the Kootenai Rails Trail (NFS Trail #255) on the Rexford Ranger District is now temporarily closed during construction activities on the Tobacco River Bridge, which is over the trail, and to protect the public on the trail from potential debris impacts.

Little Therriault Lake Campground sits at 5,520 feet elevation in the remote backcountry of Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana. This intimate 6-site campground encompasses 3 acres along the shoreline of Little Therriault Lake, providing a secluded forest environment 12.5 air miles from Fortine. Access requires a 28-mile drive on forest roads from Grave Creek Road, passing through scenic mountain terrain. The campground offers basic amenities suitable for self-sufficient campers. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, and can accommodate RVs up to 32 feet. Vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump are available. Food storage boxes are provided at each site due to the presence of bears in the area. The campground features an undeveloped boat access suitable for pack boats and other small watercraft, and the lake provides fishing access. The remote location and lakeside setting make this an ideal destination for campers seeking solitude and primitive camping experiences. The surrounding Kootenai National Forest offers opportunities for wildlife viewing, with grizzly bears, moose, and other wildlife inhabiting the area. Dump facilities, laundry, showers, gas, ice, and stores are available in Eureka, approximately 35 miles away.

Directions

From Fortine, follow Highway 93 northeast approximately 3 miles to milepost 169.34 and turn right onto Grave Creek Road 114. Follow Road 114 for 14 miles to the junction with Therriault Lakes Road 319. Continue north on Road 319 for 14 miles to the Y intersection. Turn right onto Bluebird Creek Road 7085 and follow for approximately 0.71 miles to the campground entrance.
