Horse Camp is a specialized dispersed camping area located in the Kootenai National Forest, approximately 12.5 air miles from the town of Fortine in northwestern Montana. This small, rustic facility caters specifically to horse enthusiasts, offering 2 designated sites equipped with the essential amenities needed for equestrian camping. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring for basic camping comfort. For horse care, the camp provides hitching rails and feed bins, along with a food storage box to protect supplies from wildlife. A vault toilet serves the camping area. The site layout provides adequate space for trailer turnaround and parking, accommodating trailers up to 32 feet in length. The camp serves as a staging area for riders exploring the trail systems in this remote section of the Kootenai National Forest. The surrounding landscape features the mountainous terrain characteristic of northwestern Montana, with impressive forests and wilderness areas typical of the region.
