Wolf Creek Campground

About
Wolf Creek Campground is a primitive U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility located on the southern shore of Lake Sakakawea, one of North Dakota's premier recreational destinations. The campground features nearly 70 grass-surfaced, non-electric campsites with views of the lake, many positioned directly on the waterfront. The open, grassy layout makes it popular with RV campers seeking a scenic, lakeside experience. Lake Sakakawea is renowned for its fishing opportunities, with several state record fish caught in its waters. Anglers target walleye, sauger, northern pike, muskie, smallmouth and largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and Chinook salmon—the only body of water in North Dakota where this species is found. The lake also offers excellent boating, sailing, swimming, and scuba diving. Ice fishing access is available in winter. The campground includes a playground, volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits. Showers are available at the Downstream Campground located five miles away. The adjacent Wolf Creek Wildlife Management Area provides hunting opportunities for deer, pheasant, sharp-tailed grouse, cottontail rabbits, and tree squirrels during open season. Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery and visitor center, as well as the Audubon National Wildlife Refuge, are located nearby.
