About

Elbowoods Campground is one of the main camping loops within Lake Sakakawea State Park, located in Pick City near the Garrison Dam. The park spans 739 acres along the southern shore of Lake Sakakawea, created by the Garrison Dam on the Missouri River. Campers enjoy access to excellent walleye, northern pike, and salmon fishing, along with boating and water recreation on the 307,000-acre reservoir. The campground provides modern campsites with 30/50 amp electrical and water hookups. Park facilities include flush toilets, showers, a dump station, fish cleaning station, marina, swimming beach, and multiple playgrounds. The Shoreline Trail offers hiking opportunities through the park. Elbowoods is distinguished by having the only comfort station at Lake Sakakawea State Park that remains operational after Labor Day, making it a key area for fall camping. During limited service season, campground water is discontinued in early October, requiring campers to bring their own water supply.
