Special Weather Statement issued December 30 at 12:59AM CST by NWS Bismarck ND

12:59 AM — 4:00 AM

An area of a wintry mix of light freezing rain and snow could impact portions of northern and central North Dakota late tonight into Tuesday morning. The highest chances for a glaze of ice accumulation are along and to the north of a line from Crosby to Minot to Jamestown. The freezing rain could lead to icy spots on roads and sidewalks, and could impact the Tuesday morning commute. Allow extra time for travel and check the latest road conditions before setting out. Do not use cruise control when driving on icy roads, and leave plenty of stopping distance ahead of you. The threat for freezing rain will end by late Tuesday morning.

About

East Totten Trail Campground is located on the west banks of Lake Audubon and is the only campground on the entire lake. This U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility offers 30 modern campsites and 10 primitive sites, situated in a grassy area with trees and lake views from most sites. The campground provides access to excellent boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities on Lake Audubon. Anglers target walleye, sauger, northern pike, muskie, white bass, smallmouth and largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie. Lake Sakakawea, located just across Highway 83, offers additional fishing for Chinook salmon. The area offers diverse recreational opportunities year-round, including hiking, mountain biking, scuba diving, wildlife viewing, and bird watching in warmer months, and ice fishing and winter recreation during cold months. The campground is adjacent to the Audubon Wildlife Management Area, which provides hunting opportunities. Lake Audubon was formed with the construction of Garrison Dam and is part of the Audubon National Wildlife Refuge, named after naturalist and wildlife painter John James Audubon, who collected specimens and painted northern plains wildlife in the area during 1843. Nearby attractions include the Audubon National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center (3 miles away), Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery near Riverdale, and seasonal powerhouse tours at Garrison Dam.
