About
Willow Grove Campground occupies a scenic plateau above Dale Hollow Lake, offering sweeping views of the 27,700-acre reservoir and surrounding forested hills. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the campground provides 83 sites split between two loops: sites 1-49 feature electric (50-amp) and water hookups on paved pads, while sites 55-81 are designated tent-only. A swimming beach, volleyball court, playground, and amphitheater round out the amenities. Dale Hollow Lake holds the world record for smallmouth bass and remains a premier destination for trophy fishing. The Obey River tailwaters below the dam produce excellent rainbow and brown trout. Boating and water skiing are popular, and secluded tie-ups along the 620 miles of shoreline offer peaceful escapes. The submerged historic Willow Grove School House is a popular scuba diving destination. The Accordion Bluff Hiking Trail begins at the campground and stretches 7.5 miles one-way to Lillydale Campground, ascending ridgetops and following the lakeshore. The trail is ideal for birders and wildflower enthusiasts. From late fall through early spring, Dale Hollow hosts one of the largest wintering bald eagle populations in Tennessee and Kentucky.
