About
Willow Grove Campground is a spacious Corps of Engineers facility located at Dale Hollow Lake in the hills of Tennessee. Positioned on an elevated plateau, the campground offers sweeping views of the lake and surrounding forest, creating a scenic backdrop for camping and outdoor recreation. Dale Hollow Lake, completed in 1943 for flood control and power generation, has become a recreational destination for over 3 million annual visitors and is renowned for yielding the world record smallmouth bass. The campground features 81 single-party campsites, one group camping site, and a large group picnic shelter. Most sites include 50-amp electric and water hookups, with dedicated tent-only sites also available. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, and a dump station. The campground offers a swimming beach, playground, volleyball court, and WiFi near the registration center. Adjacent to Willow Grove Marina (operated by a private concessionaire), campers have convenient access to boat launches and marina services. Recreation opportunities abound at Dale Hollow Lake, with 27,700 surface acres of water and 620 miles of shoreline for boating, water skiing, and fishing. The Obey River below Dale Hollow Dam is known for excellent rainbow and brown trout fishing. The 7.5-mile Accordian Bluff Hiking Trail connects Willow Grove to Lillydale Campground and is ideal for birders and wildflower enthusiasts. The historic Willow Grove School House foundation near the campground provides a popular scuba diving destination. In late fall through early spring, American Bald Eagles can be spotted, as Dale Hollow hosts the second-largest wintering eagle population in Tennessee and Kentucky.
