Roaring River Park is a day-use recreation area located on Cordell Hull Lake, part of the Cumberland River System near Gainesboro, Tennessee. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District, this wooded park sits at the confluence of the Roaring River and the lake, offering visitors access to 12,000 acres of water and 381 miles of shoreline. The park features a large group picnic shelter with electrical hookups available for reservation, along with flush toilets, drinking water, a playground, and a boat ramp. The swim beach provides a sandy area for families during the summer season. The shelter is available for day use from dawn to dusk and cannot be reserved for overnight stays. A $5 vehicle entrance fee is charged upon arrival. Cordell Hull Lake is situated among rolling hills covered with maple, hickory, oak, beech, and chestnut trees. Anglers enjoy fishing for white bass, rockfish, largemouth bass, catfish, shad, and crappie. Boating, sailing, water skiing, jet skiing, and kayaking are popular activities on the water. Wildlife is abundant, with whitetail deer, wild turkeys, quail, squirrels, rabbits, and waterfowl commonly seen throughout the area. The historic town of Granville is a 20-minute drive away, hosting annual events including the Uncle Jimmy Thompson Bluegrass Festival.

Directions

From I-40, take Highway 53 north through Gainesboro, Tennessee. Turn east on Highway 135 and follow signs into the recreation area.
