About
Lillydale Campground and Recreation Area is located along the shores of Dale Hollow Lake in the hills of Tennessee, named one of the National Recreation Reservation Service's Top Ten Most Scenic Campgrounds. The campground features 112 single-party campsites with a mix of RV sites with 30-amp or 50-amp electric and water hookups, as well as tent-only sites. Remote island tent camping sites are also available for a more primitive experience. The facility includes flush toilets, drinking water, a dump station, two boat ramps, two volleyball courts, and two swimming beaches. Dale Hollow Lake is renowned for fishing opportunities, yielding the world record smallmouth bass and offering trophy smallmouth fishing. The Obey River below Dale Hollow Dam is known for excellent rainbow and brown trout fishing. With 27,700 surface acres of water and 620 miles of shoreline, there is ample space for boating and water skiing. The Accordian Bluff Hiking Trail is a 7.5-mile one-way trail that ascends to a ridge-top and back down to the shoreline, connecting both Lillydale and Willow Grove Campgrounds. Dale Hollow hosts the second-largest wintering eagle population in Tennessee and Kentucky, with American Bald Eagles visible in late fall through early spring. Around Labor Day, thousands of Purple Martins roost on the small island adjacent to the campground during their migration south. The campground is surrounded by a dense canopy of forest, providing scenic beauty and wildlife viewing opportunities throughout the camping season.
Directions
From Byrdstown, Tennessee, take Highway 111 south for about 13 miles. Turn north on 294/Willow Grove Road at Big Springs Market and continue for another 13 miles, then turn right onto Lillydale Road and continue to the entrance. GPS and online mapping services may not be reliable for this location.
