About

Florence Marina State Park occupies 173 acres along the northern end of 45,000-acre Lake Walter F. George, straddling the Georgia-Alabama border. The park is a destination for anglers and boaters, with a natural deep-water marina offering 66 rental slips, a boat ramp, and a lighted fishing pier. The lake supports excellent bass, crappie, and catfish populations, and the shoreline draws herons, egrets, and bald eagles. The campground provides 43 tent, trailer, and RV sites with electric and water hookups, each equipped with a picnic table and grill or fire ring. Modern comfort stations offer flush toilets and hot showers, and laundry facilities are on site. Additional accommodations include seven fully equipped cottages and eight efficiency units for those seeking more amenities. Beyond camping, visitors can explore the Kirbo Interpretive Center, which showcases the area's paleontology and history including artifacts from nearby Providence Canyon. Two playgrounds and a miniature golf course provide family recreation. Park gates are open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with the office staffed 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
