About
Lone Rock Beach Primitive Camping Area sits on the western shore of Lake Powell near the Arizona-Utah border, featuring a large expanse of sandy beach and dunes with the striking Lone Rock sandstone formation as a backdrop. This is true dispersed camping: no marked sites, no reservations, and no hookups. Campers drive onto the beach and set up wherever they find space, with a maximum of two vehicles per group. The area operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. Seasonal amenities include potable water, free cold outdoor showers, and an RV dump station. Ten toilets are scattered across the beach (four micro-flush, six vault), plus one wheelchair-accessible comfort station near the paved entrance area. Campfires are permitted within a four-foot squared area below the 3,700-foot high water mark where there is no vegetation. Be prepared for driving on soft sand. There is no guaranteed towing service if you get stuck. Limited cellular service means help may not be immediately available. Glass containers are prohibited, quiet hours run 10pm to 6am, and an off-road vehicle play area is designated for OHV use.
