Clear Lake State Park

Clear Lake State Park sits on the south shore of Clear Lake in north-central Iowa, offering 155 campsites ranging from primitive non-electric sites to full hookups with water, sewer, and 20/30/50 amp electric service. Sites vary from 30 to 108 feet in length, with several pull-through options accommodating larger RVs. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. Modern restroom facilities with flush toilets are available throughout the campground, along with a vault toilet near sites 10-11, two dump stations, and water hydrants. The park's signature feature is its 900-foot sandy swimming beach, one of the finest in Iowa's state park system. Anglers will find good fishing for walleye, yellow bass, and channel catfish. Boating access and hiking trails round out the recreational opportunities. The park also has a day-use lodge and shelters available for reservation. The campground operates April 1 through November 30, with peak season rates from May 1 through October 15. Reservations are required as the campground is 100% reservable through ReserveAmerica. Due to its popularity, weekend stays require a 2-night minimum (3 nights on holidays).

Directions

Take exit 193 off I-35. Head west on Highway 106 until the first four-way stop. Turn left south on 8th Avenue and follow for about a mile. Turn right on 27th Street South and follow until the stop sign. Park entrance is across the road at 6490 S Shore Drive.
