About

Flat Rock Campground sits at approximately 6,100 feet elevation along the scenic Yankee Fork of the Salmon River in the Salmon-Challis National Forest. This small, rustic campground offers 6 individual sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit with cooking grill. A vault toilet and hand pump provide basic amenities, but there are no hookups or developed facilities. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the historic Yankee Fork mining district. Rainbow trout fishing is accessible directly from camp along the river. Interpretive and historical tours of the surrounding area showcase remnants of Idaho's gold rush era, including the ghost town of Custer and the Yankee Fork Gold Dredge. The setting is peaceful and uncrowded, ideal for campers seeking a quieter forest experience.
