Pole Flat Campground is located approximately 3 miles up Yankee Fork Road from Highway 75, away from the main road traffic and elevated on a hillside that provides views of the Salmon River and historic dredge ponds below. The campground offers a peaceful setting for campers exploring the Yankee Fork area and Land of the Yankee Fork State Park.
Each campsite includes a picnic table, tent pad, and fire ring with cooking grill. The campground provides hand-pumped drinking water and vault toilet facilities. The sites are suitable for trailers and motorhomes up to 32 feet in length. At $10 per night, this first-come, first-served campground offers an affordable base for exploring the surrounding national forest, historic mining sites, and the scenic Yankee Fork of the Salmon River.
The area is rich with mining history, and visitors can explore the nearby Yankee Fork Gold Dredge and the historic town of Custer while traveling the Custer Motorway. The campground's location provides access to fishing, hiking, and scenic drives through the Salmon-Challis National Forest.
Directions
From Stanley, drive 11 miles east on Highway 75 to the Sunbeam Dam overlook. Turn left onto Forest Road 40013 (Yankee Fork Road) for about 3 miles. Campground is on the right. From Challis, drive 42 miles west on Highway 75 to Sunbeam Dam overlook, turn right onto Forest Road 40013 for about 3 miles.
