Flat Rock Campground Extension

Closed

Closed for the season. Opens June 1. First-come, first-served with no advance reservations. No potable water on site; drinking water available at nearby Flat Rock Campground.

About

Flat Rock Campground Extension is a small, intimate campground tucked along the Yankee Fork River in the Salmon-Challis National Forest. Located just upstream from Flat Rock Campground, this three-site facility offers shaded camping with the river across the road. Each site features a picnic table, tent pad, and fire ring with cooking grill. The campground is primitive, with a vault toilet but no potable water on site. Campers can obtain drinking water from nearby Flat Rock Campground. Due to the small site sizes and road configuration, the campground is limited to trailers and motorhomes up to 16 feet in length. Access is via Yankee Fork Road from Highway 75 at the Sunbeam Dam overlook. From Stanley, drive 11 miles east; from Challis, drive 42 miles west. The campground sits approximately 2.25 miles up the Yankee Fork Road on the right side.

Directions

From Stanley, drive 11 miles east on Highway 75 to the Sunbeam Dam overlook. Turn left onto Yankee Fork Road (Forest Road 013) and continue approximately 2.25 miles. The campground is on the right. From Challis, drive 42 miles west on Highway 75 to the Sunbeam Dam overlook, turn right onto Yankee Fork Road for 2.25 miles.
