About

Flat Rock Campground Extension is a small, quiet campground situated along the scenic Yankee Fork River in the Salmon-Challis National Forest. Just upriver from its larger counterpart, Flat Rock Campground, this extension offers three shaded campsites positioned along the road with the river across the way. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, tent pad, and fire ring with cooking grill. The campground features a vault toilet and can accommodate trailers and motorhomes up to 16 feet in length. There are no hookups available, and campers must obtain drinking water from nearby Flat Rock Campground. The riverside location provides easy access to fishing in the Yankee Fork River, and the area offers opportunities for exploring the historic Yankee Fork mining district. Access is straightforward via Highway 75 and Forest Road #013 (Yankee Fork Road), located approximately 11 miles east of Stanley or 42 miles west of Challis. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis during the summer season at $5 per night, with a 50% discount available for holders of Interagency Senior or Access passes.

Directions

From Stanley, drive 11 miles east on Highway 75 to the Sunbeam Dam overlook. Turn left onto Forest Road #013 (Yankee Fork Road) for about 2.25 miles. Campground is on the right.
