About
Located at 10,200 feet elevation in Pike National Forest, Weston Pass Campground provides access to Buffalo Peaks Wilderness on its east boundary. The campground features 14 first-come, first-served sites suitable for RVs up to 25 feet and trailers up to 25 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, but campers must be self-sufficient as there is no potable water and no trash service. A hand pump is available on-site.
The campground operates under strict bear country protocols with a bear closure order requiring all food and attractants to be stored in bear-resistant containers, bear bags, or within hard-sided vehicles. Pop-up campers, tents, and open-top vehicles do not qualify as safe storage. Sites accommodate up to eight people, two tents, and two vehicles or one RV, with check-in at 2 p.m. and checkout at noon. Quiet hours run from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Payment is collected on-site via self-service fee tube accepting cash, check, or money order, or through the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature where cellular service permits. The campground is accessed via County Roads 5 and 22 from Fairplay, approximately 5 miles south on US Highway 285.
Directions
From Fairplay, travel south on US Highway 285 for about 5 miles and turn right onto County Road 5. County Road 5 will turn into County Road 22, and the campground will be on your left a few miles down County Road 22.
