West Shore Unit - Flathead Lake State Park

West Shore Unit sits along the western edge of Flathead Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. The 129-acre park features glacially carved dolomite rock formations rising from the lakeshore, creating natural overlooks with panoramic views of the Swan and Mission mountain ranges. A mature forest of fir, pine, and larch shelters the campground, making it the quietest of Flathead Lake's six units. The campground has 33 sites spread across the forested terrain, including 7 tent-only sites and one ADA-accessible site. Many sites offer electric hookups at various amperages, and some include water and sewer connections. Bear-resistant storage lockers are provided at each site. The deep-water boat launch remains ice-free throughout winter, offering year-round access for watercraft. A concessionaire operates kayak, paddleboard, and pedal boat rentals from mid-June through Labor Day. Hiking trails wind through 2.5 miles of the park, and the extensive rocky shoreline is ideal for swimming and picnicking. Potable water is available seasonally from May through September. The park operates with a camp host on-site during the camping season.
