About

Located 6 miles south of Lakeside on Highway 93, West Shore Unit of Flathead Lake State Park occupies 129 forested acres of mature fir, pine, and larch along Flathead Lake's western shore. The park sits on glacially-carved dolomite outcroppings that provide spectacular vistas of the Swan and Mission mountain ranges across Montana's largest natural freshwater lake. The campground features 33 campsites, including 7 tent-only sites and one ADA-accessible site, with a maximum RV/trailer length of 40 feet. Bear-resistant storage lockers are provided at all sites. The park offers extensive shoreline access, hiking trails through the mature forest, and a deep-water boat launch that typically remains ice-free year-round. The rocky shoreline is excellent for swimming, fishing, and wildlife viewing. During summer months, a concessionaire offers kayak, stand-up paddleboard, and pedal boat rentals. The park is considered the quietest unit on Flathead Lake, offering a serene camping experience with modern amenities including vault toilets, potable water, and RV electrical hookups at select sites.
