Wayfarers Unit - Flathead Lake State Park

Wayfarers Unit is one of six units comprising Flathead Lake State Park, situated on the northeast shore of Montana's largest natural freshwater lake. The campground occupies a mature mixed forest where rocky cliffs along the shoreline provide scenic lake vistas throughout the day. With 30 campsites ranging from primitive hike-bike pads to electric RV sites, the park accommodates diverse camping styles. Facilities include a bathhouse with coin-operated showers, flush and vault toilets, drinking water, a dump station, and firewood sales. A boat ramp and seasonal dock provide direct lake access for fishing, swimming, and boating. Bear-resistant storage lockers are provided and all attractants must be secured in hard-sided containers. The campground operates from April through October, though water systems and showers are only available May through September. The park's location along Highway 35 makes it convenient for exploring the Bigfork area's galleries, restaurants, and summer theater, while also serving as a waypoint for cyclists on the Continental Divide route. A playground and picnic shelters accommodate day-use visitors.

Directions

From Bigfork, head south on MT Highway 35. The park entrance is at 8600 MT Hwy 35, approximately 0.5 miles south of town on the east side of the highway.
