About

Located near the village of Swan Lake at the north end of the scenic Swan Valley in northwest Montana, this campground sits within the 2.4 million acre Flathead National Forest, home to lynx, grizzly bears, and bull trout. The campground features two distinct loops: Ponderosa Loop with large, open sites offering plenty of space, and Birch Loop with shaded sites nestled closer together among birch and fir trees. With 38 family-sized campsites plus a reservable group site accommodating up to 100 people, the campground offers both advance reservations (24 sites) and first-come, first-served options (14 sites). Surrounded by dense conifer forest and the craggy, snow-covered peaks of the Swan Mountain Range, the campground provides direct access to Swan Lake's boat ramp and beach. Both motorized and non-motorized boating is permitted, and kayak, paddleboard, and canoe rentals are available on-site. Anglers can fish for several species of trout, Kokanee salmon, and Northern Pike. Bike lanes wind throughout the campground, and the nearby Swan River National Wildlife Refuge offers wildlife and bird observation opportunities about a mile away. Glacier National Park is within an hour's drive.
