About

Badin Horse Camp, also called Old Horse Camp, is a primitive equestrian camping area located in an open field within Uwharrie National Forest in Montgomery County, North Carolina. The site is specifically designed for campers with self-contained RV and horse trailers, featuring tie-outs for horses but no developed facilities. This is a true primitive camping experience with no amenities available. There are no restrooms, no potable water, and no trash service. Campers must bring all necessary supplies and pack out their trash or dispose of it at the dumpster located at nearby Canebrake Horse Camp. The camp operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required. Horseback riders can also use the field beside Badin Horse Camp for day parking when accessing the Uwharrie trail system. For those seeking more developed facilities, Canebrake Horse Camp offers electrical hookups, restrooms, and showers nearby.
