About
Set in the rolling hills of Schuyler County, Weinberg-King State Fish and Wildlife Area provides a quiet camping experience in western Illinois. The 772-acre park originated from a 1968 deed donation by Gertrude K. Allen and has since expanded to include two distinct camping areas. The non-equestrian campground offers 29 Class B/E sites with electric hookups, while equestrian campers have access to 19 dedicated Class B/E sites with nearby trail access. Williams Creek meanders through the park for approximately 2 miles with an average depth of 3 feet, and a 4-acre pond provides fishing opportunities for bass, bluegill, and channel catfish. The terrain features steep hillsides covered with mixed forest including oak, walnut, locust, and pine trees. Wildlife is abundant with deer, turkey, fox squirrels, and upland game birds. Both camping areas have vault toilets and shelter houses, with ADA-accessible sites featuring concrete pads, sidewalks to facilities, 50-amp electric service, and wheelchair-accessible picnic tables and grills. The park also supports hunting in season, cross-country skiing, and snowmobile trails in winter.
