About

Geode State Park sits in the rolling hills of southeast Iowa, built around the scenic 187-acre Lake Geode. The lake offers excellent fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish, along with boating and paddling opportunities under no-wake regulations. The park is named for the geodes found in the surrounding limestone formations, making it a destination for rock collectors. The campground features 88 sites spread across multiple loops, including 52 standard electric sites with 20/30/50 amp service, 14 full hook-up sites with electric, water, and sewer connections, and 18 tent-only sites. Two modern shower buildings serve the camping area, and a dump station is available for RVs. Every campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table, with water hydrants distributed throughout the loops. The park is also one of the most popular picnicking destinations in the region, with several open shelters available for group use. A swimming beach provides lake access during summer months. The campground operates from April 1 through December 14, with all 88 sites reservable through the Iowa State Parks reservation system.
