About

Clark Mountain Camp is a dispersed camping area situated atop a ridgeline in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests of north-central Idaho. The primitive single-lane road offers stunning panoramic views in both directions: southward over the Orogrande drainage and northward toward the distinctive Chateau Rock formation. This is a truly primitive camping experience with no developed facilities. Campers must be fully self-sufficient, bringing their own water and packing out all trash. The area is popular with OHV enthusiasts, mountain bikers, and day hikers seeking access to the surrounding trail network. The route connects Trail 604 near Knute Creek with FS Road 670 near Cache Creek. Given the high-elevation ridgeline location, access is weather-dependent and the road may be impassable during winter and early spring due to snow. Visitors should check current conditions with the Forest Service before making the trip.
