About
Waitsboro Campground is situated on beautiful Lake Cumberland in southern Kentucky, the largest man-made lake east of the Mississippi River. Operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, the campground overlooks the main body of the lake and offers sweeping scenic views from many sites. Dense stands of mature hardwoods forest the area, providing pleasant shade and wildlife habitat throughout the relatively long recreation season. The campground offers 17 RV sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups accommodating vehicles up to 50 feet, along with 5 tent-only sites. Eight sites are designated waterfront. Full amenities include flush toilets, showers, drinking water, laundry facilities, and an RV dump station. A day-use area with a group picnic shelter is also available. Lake Cumberland provides excellent fishing for largemouth, smallmouth, white and Kentucky bass, bluegill, crappie, rockfish and walleye. The Black Walnut Nature Trail near the lake office offers self-guided educational walks. General Burnside Island State Park and Burnside Marina with boat rentals, restaurant, and general store are nearby.
