About

Village Creek State Park preserves a corridor of the Big Thicket biological crossroads north of Beaumont. The developed camping loop contains 25 sites with water and 30-amp electric hookups, each featuring a picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad. Restrooms with showers are nearby. For a more secluded experience, 15 primitive hike-in sites line the creek, accessible via the Creekside Trail; these include picnic tables, fire rings, and access to water spigots. Village Creek itself is the park's main draw for paddlers. The slow-moving blackwater stream meanders through cypress-tupelo swamps and sandbars ideal for swimming. Local outfitters offer canoe and kayak rentals delivered to the park. Anglers will find catfish, bass, and sunfish, and the park loans fishing gear at no charge with no license required. Over 10 miles of trails wind through longleaf pine uplands, beech-magnolia slopes, and floodplain forest. The Nature Center provides exhibits on Big Thicket ecology, and rangers lead guided hikes and programs throughout the year.
