About
Limestone Campground is located in Sequoia National Forest along the Upper Kern River, a designated Wild and Scenic River, at an elevation of 3,800 feet. The campground features 22 sites surrounded by oak and gray pine trees in a scenic river canyon setting. The Upper Kern River is renowned for whitewater rafting and kayaking, making this campground a popular base for river enthusiasts and anglers. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire pits at each site, but no potable water is available. Campers must bring their own drinking water or be prepared to filter water from natural sources. The maximum RV length is 30 feet. Due to the Wild and Scenic River designation, camping and campfires are prohibited within 25 feet of the water's edge, and glass containers are not allowed in the area. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding Sequoia National Forest, including day trips to the Trail of 100 Giants and other attractions. The area offers opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and experiencing the natural beauty of the southern Sierra Nevada. Gray pines, scrub oaks, and dry climate shrubs cling to the steep canyon walls, while cottonwoods and willows line the river's edge, creating a diverse and picturesque landscape.
