About

Upper Goodell Group Campground offers a secluded group camping experience on the banks of Goodell Creek within North Cascades National Park. At 500 feet elevation, the site lies among lush ancient forests of western redcedar, western hemlock, and Douglas-fir trees. The creek's headwaters begin in the surrounding mountains, picking up cold, clean glacial meltwater before emptying into the Skagit River. The campground features one group site that comfortably fits 12-20 people with a maximum capacity of 30. Amenities include a picnic shelter with tables, a fire ring, pit toilet, and animal-resistant food lockers. There is no potable water on-site; campers must bring their own or obtain water from the main Goodell Creek Campground across State Route 20. Nature abounds in the Goodell Gorge, with excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and birding. Black bears are active in the area, requiring proper food storage. The nearby Skagit River offers fishing for trout, salmon, and steelhead. The campground provides convenient access to hiking trails and the town of Newhalem.
