Colonial Creek North Campground is nestled in lush old-growth forest within the Ross Lake National Recreation Area, part of the North Cascades National Park Complex. Located at milepost 130 on State Route 20, the campground offers 43 campsites ranging from small to medium, suitable for tent camping and small RVs or trailers up to 25 feet. The striking turquoise waters of Diablo Lake are directly accessible from the campground, providing opportunities for fishing with a Washington State license, kayaking, and photography. Hiking is a major draw, with Thunder Knob Trail departing from the North Loop and the Thunder Creek Trail accessible from the South Loop. Black bears are active throughout the area, so all food and scented items must be stored in the provided bear boxes when not in use. The campground features flush toilets seasonally, vault toilets, potable water, trash and recycling service, and an RV dump station in the South Loop. Reservations are required during peak season from late May through early September. Sites 1-35 are released 6 months in advance, while sites 36-43 are released 7 days in advance. Any unreserved sites are available same-day as first-come, first-served for one night only. After peak season, the campground may remain open FCFS until it closes for the year in mid-to-late September.

Located at milepost 130 on State Route 20. From Burlington, WA, drive 70 miles east on SR 20. From Twisp, WA, drive 71 miles west on SR 20. The campground is on the north side of the highway.
