About
Colonial Creek South Campground is a bustling yet remote destination surrounded by western redcedar, western hemlock, Douglas-fir, and red huckleberries in the Ross Lake National Recreation Area. Located on the south shore of the striking turquoise Diablo Lake near milepost 130 on State Route 20, the campground offers 93 sites ranging from small to medium, accommodating tents, small trailers, and RVs up to 36 feet. The campground provides flush toilets and potable water during the peak season, with vault toilets available year-round. An RV dump station, trash and recycling collection, bear boxes at each site, and designated fire rings are available seasonally. Three ADA-accessible sites are offered. Campers can fish Diablo Lake with a Washington State license and access the Thunder Creek Trailhead directly from the south loop. Black bears are active throughout the area. All food, coolers, and scented items must be stored in bear boxes or vehicles when not in use.
