Tuolumne Meadows Campground sits at 8,600 feet elevation in Yosemite National Park's stunning high country, surrounded by broad sub-alpine meadows, granite domes, and peaks of the Sierra Nevada. The gentle Tuolumne River and its forks flow through vast wildflower meadows bordered by Western White pine, Mountain hemlock, and Lodgepole pine. The campground is located five miles from the Tioga Pass Entrance Station along scenic Tioga Road. The campground completed a transformative three-year, $26.2 million rehabilitation project funded by the Great American Outdoors Act and reopened in August 2025. Improvements include ten restroom facilities meeting Architectural Barriers Act accessibility standards, completely replaced water distribution and sewer systems, realigned roads to protect the Tuolumne River corridor, and an upgraded Dana Campfire Circle amphitheater with accessible seating. Popular activities include hiking to Elizabeth Lake (4.8-mile roundtrip from the campground), Cathedral Lakes, Mono Pass, Glen Aulin, and Lyell Canyon via the John Muir Trail. Nearby Tenaya Lake offers swimming, canoeing, and picnicking. A small store, grill, and post office are within walking distance. There is no cell service, internet, or public phone at Tuolumne Meadows.

Directions

From Highway 120 east via Tioga Pass: the campground is approximately 17 miles west of the Tioga Pass Entrance Station on the left. From Yosemite Valley: take Big Oak Flat Road to Tioga Road; the campground is 54 miles (approximately 90 minutes) on the right.
