About

Tuolumne Meadows Campground is Yosemite National Park's largest campground, positioned at 8,600 feet elevation in the heart of the Sierra Nevada high country. The campground underwent a transformative three-year rehabilitation funded by the Great American Outdoors Act, reopening in August 2025 with modernized infrastructure, ten new accessible restrooms, and 29 additional hike-in sites. Loop A was realigned to create a 150-foot buffer from the Tuolumne River, restoring sensitive riparian habitat. The campground offers 336 sites serving up to 2,200 visitors nightly, including 304 standard and walk-in sites, 21 backpacker sites, seven group sites, and four horse sites. Each campsite includes a fire ring, picnic table, and bear-proof food locker. Flush toilets and potable water are available seasonally, with a dump station nearby. There are no hookups, showers, cell service, or wifi. The location provides direct access to iconic high-country trails including the 4.8-mile roundtrip to Elizabeth Lake, Cathedral Lakes, Lyell Canyon via the John Muir Trail, Mono Pass, and Glen Aulin. Nearby Tenaya Lake offers swimming and picnicking. The Tuolumne Meadows area features a small store, grill, and post office within walking distance of the campground.
