About

Trout Creek Recreation Area is a small, primitive camping destination in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, located about 14 miles northwest of Yampa in Routt County, Colorado. The area offers 4 dispersed campsites situated off a dirt road alongside Trout Creek, providing a quiet setting for anglers and those seeking solitude away from developed campgrounds. Facilities are minimal, consisting only of a single vault toilet. Campers must bring their own drinking water and pack out all trash. The area does include a pull-through turnaround suitable for those towing trailers. Stream fishing in Trout Creek is the main draw for visitors to this lightly used recreation area.
