Crosho Lake Camground

Closed — Closed for the season. The campground is weather-dependent and typically operates June through November. Winter access is only available via snowmobile.

About

Crosho Lake Recreation Area is a scenic spot in the Flat Tops area of Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, offering 10 undeveloped dispersed camping opportunities along the lakeshore. The lake is popular for non-motorized boating including canoes, kayaks, and float tubes, as well as shore fishing and wade fishing. Anglers can target cutthroat trout and grayling using fly or spin fishing techniques. Camping is free and no permit is required, though facilities are minimal. The area has one vault toilet but no picnic tables, fire grates, or potable water. Campers must be self-sufficient and practice Leave No Trace principles. Day use parking is very limited. Access requires a high clearance vehicle as County Road 15 is rough and unpaved. The campground operates weather-dependent, typically from June through November. During winter months, the area is accessible only by snowmobile. The remote location and light usage make this an ideal destination for campers seeking solitude and primitive camping experiences.
