About

Cold Springs Campground sits at 10,200 feet elevation in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, approximately 16.5 miles outside Yampa, Colorado. This small but popular campground features 5 sites arranged in a loop configuration with views of the Flat Tops Wilderness. Each site includes a picnic table and fire grate, with a vault toilet serving the campground. The area offers excellent recreation opportunities including fishing and hiking. A boat launch at nearby Yamcolo Reservoir provides water access, with two additional reservoirs in the vicinity. The Stillwater and Smith Lake Trailheads on Forest Service Road 900 are easily accessible from the campground. Paper trail guides and additional information are available at the Yampa Ranger Station in downtown Yampa. Access is via County Road 7 from Yampa for approximately 7 miles, where the paved road turns to gravel and becomes Forest Service Road 900. The campground is another 10 miles on the right, past Bear Lake and Horseshoe Campgrounds. The road is not suitable for large RVs.
