About

Stagecoach State Park is located in Routt County, Colorado, 17 miles south of Steamboat Springs in the scenic Yampa Valley. The park centers around an 820-acre reservoir on the Yampa River, surrounded by sagebrush meadows with views of aspen and pine forests on the surrounding hills. The park offers 92 campsites distributed across four campgrounds: McKindley, Pinnacle City, Junction City, and Harding Spur. Campsites accommodate both tent campers and RVs, with electrical hookups available at most sites. During the summer season (May 15 through September 30), the park provides full amenities including water hookups, flush toilets, coin-operated showers, and a dump station. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table. The park features two ADA-accessible campsites and a group camping area. During winter months, camping is limited to 4-6 sites in the Pinnacle campground only, with electrical hookups but no water facilities. The reservoir provides opportunities for fishing, boating, and water sports in summer, while the park's 8 miles of trails offer hiking and wildlife viewing. The park serves as an excellent base camp for exploring nearby attractions including the Flattops Wilderness Area and Sarvis Creek Wilderness Area.

From I-70, take the Wolcott Exit onto Hwy 131 for 50 miles, then turn right on County Road 14 and continue for six miles to the park entrance.
