Bear Lake Campground is located in the Flat Tops Area of Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, 11 miles southwest of Yampa, Colorado on Forest Service Road 900. Completely rebuilt in 2002, the campground features 43 sites including 3 double-sites and 1 triple-site nestled within a mixed conifer and aspen forest. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, tent pad, and fire grate. The campground sits adjacent to Bear Lake, which is popular for trout fishing and non-motorized watercraft including kayaks, canoes, belly boats, and stand-up paddle boards. A free day-use fishing pier and picnic area are located within a short walk from the campground entrance. For hikers, Mandall Trailhead, Smith Lake Trailhead, and Stillwater Trailhead are accessible via a short drive along Forest Service Road 900. Amenities include vault toilets, potable water, and trash services. The campground can accommodate trailers up to 30 feet in length. Dogs must remain on leash at all times. This is a first-come, first-served campground with no advance reservations.

Directions

From HWY 131, exit at Yampa on Moffat Street, next to the Sinclair Gas Station. Go a few blocks through downtown Yampa to Montgomery's General Store and Antlers Bar & Cafe, then follow CTY Rd 7 and signs towards Yamcolo Reservoir. Follow CTY Rd 7 for 7 miles, where the road turns to dirt and becomes Forest Service Road 900. Pass Yamcolo Reservoir to the Bear Lake Campground entrance on the left.
