About

Chapman Reservoir Campground is located along the Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway on Forest Service Road 940, about 13 miles from Yampa, Colorado. Situated at 9,300 feet elevation in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, this small campground offers 12 sites that accommodate trailers up to 22 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire grate, with several sites providing beautiful views of Chapman Reservoir and the Little Flat Tops. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a camp host present during summer months. Payment is by exact cash or check only at the fee station. While potable water is not available, vault toilets are provided. Chapman Reservoir is a short walk from the campground and offers opportunities for fishing and wakeless boating. The area is popular for scenic drives along the Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway, and dispersed camping is available along Forest Service Road 940. ATVs are not permitted to be driven through the campground but can be trailered to the area for riding on surrounding forest roads. The campground experiences light use compared to other area campgrounds.
